CENTER FOR THIRD WORLD ORGANIZING (CTWO)

CTWO is a training and resource organization that promotes social, economic, and racial justice for people of color, with a focus on the poor. To achieve its objective, CTWO strives to build a network of activists and communities, and provides training for new and experienced organizers. Training sessions include the Movement Activist Apprenticeship Program (MAAP), an 8-week-long intensive program that provides people of color with the opportunity to develop skills and experience in grassroots organizing, and The California Lead Organizer Institute (CLOI), which unites lead organizers who wish to advance their leadership abilities.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer tasks vary by program and range from research to fundraising, to clerical work. Interested individuals can also apply to the organization’s Movement Activist Apprenticeship Program (MAAP). MAAP is an eight-week summer internship program for people of color who want to pursue organizing. Participants receive training in CTWO’s retreat center in Oakland, CA and are then placed in active campaigns where they become full time community organizers. For details, contact Program Coordinator Araceli Centeno at [email protected] or by phone at (510) 355-7583 x13.
